Three passionate local artists are joining forces for a project that aims to highlight Mount Pleasant’s essence through photos.
Last year, Art Not Ads received a small grant of $500 from Vancouver Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants Program to launch a community project called Captures. The project seeks to share the soul of the Mount Pleasant community with the public through photos.
The founders of Art Not Ads — local artists Tim Rolls, Celia Winters and Matt Schroeter — collected over 100 beautiful photo submissions from Mount Pleasant residents. They have also secured the space at the corner of Kingsway and Broadway however, the project still needs financial support to help get the photos all printed.
As you know, Rize is committed to local art initiatives, so naturally we like this project. Captures aims to give the people in the Mount Pleasant community a chance to create their own stories through photos and to invite others to become part of this unique community. We encourage you to learn more about it through the project website. You can follow Art Not ads on Twitter for more information.
