We are pleased to welcome five Vancouver-based artists to Rize Mount Pleasant this January and February. The month-long exhibit — simply called 5 — showcases works by Linda Suffidy, Emmanuel Buenviaje, Thibault Sendra, Salvador Nunez, and Raven Sto.
Here’s some more information about the artists.
Thibault Sendra
Born in France and educated in Belgium, Thibault Sendra is a motion graphic designer who now calls Vancouver home. Recently, Sendra’s work has focused on the use of the acrylic medium. We can’t wait to see “Tuesday Morning”, a stunning 91 x 91 cm canvas that Sendra created last December.
For more information, visit Sendra’s website and blog.
Linda Suffidy
Working with digital tools but experimenting with organic shapes and textures, Linda Suffidy brings her “Bouquets” collection to Rize Mount Pleasant. Suffidy’s work reflects her curiousity about what she calls “the perfection of vector graphics”.
Suffidy’s use of digital tools to create beautiful images of flowers and nature is both intriguing and compelling. More info about Linda Suffidy on her website.
Salvador Nunez
Canadian artist, animator and director Salvador Nunez will showcase unique pieces influenced by the European fine arts, comics, Earth sciences, video games, myths, fantasy and his life. A graduate of Emily Carr University, Nunez comes from a family of artists from Chile.
We have seen one of Nunez’s pieces, and we are intrigued. Showcasing a wide variety of influences, his work is futuristic and mysterious. Visit salvadornunez.com to get a sneak peek.
Emmanuel Buenviaje
Emmanuel Buenviaje is a graphic designer and photographer from Vancouver. Buenviaje’s work highlights provocative images of urban spaces and the people that inhabit them. Have a look at his Flickr account for some examples of his stunning work.
Raven Sto
Vancouver-born Raven Sto specializes in paintings and paper sculptures. A dancer for over 20 years, Sto is inspired by movement, water, and the nature. She is proud to bring her “Landscape of Dreams” painting to the exhibit.
We welcome you to Rize Mount Pleasant to enjoy this exhibit. 5 runs from January 16 to February 11, 2012. We’re open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11:00am to 5:00pm.
